The Problem

Today, over 2200 children are waiting and praying for a 2nd Chance at Life, an organ transplant.
Approximately 96,000 people nationally are on the waiting list. To compound the problem, every 13 minutes a new name is added to the national waiting list for an organ transplant.  Last year almost 200 children died while waiting.

Most parents are aware that they can make their organ donation decision known on their driver’s license… but what about the children?  The bottom line is no one asks parents to think about child organ donation.  Consequently, many children die who could otherwise survive.  “After our friends lost their daughter who was waiting for a heart transplant we discussed this sensitive subject with our children. We all decided it was something we wanted to do.  Years later when we lost our son, Scott, we knew his desire was to help save the lives of others and we honored his wishes”, states Georgia Horvath, co-founder of CHERUBS.

Our goal is to help parents realize that at a time of personal loss there exists the opportunity to give the gift of life.  Please consider child organ donation before a crisis strikes your family.
